Henry Brodt, a man from Laguna Beach, Florida has been able to lay claim to the 2015 U.S. Amateur Pool Championship. He bested more than two thousand competitors in order to gain this title on November 8th, 2015. This is an impressive win for the player as it is his third time winning this title, he now holds the record for being the oldest competitor to ever win this event.
Henry first won these titles back in 1998 and then again back in 1999. This is when he lived in Illinois, after his retirement from being a professional electrician for thirty five years. Injuries unfortunately in his field of work caused him from being able to recapture his championship glory for sixteen years. After serious rehabilitation he was once again able to return back to his full abilities in the game of billiards. He commented to press “It took a bit of practice on my behalf every day for a number of weeks, I attended a few weekend events here and there to get back into the swing of things. Over 2013 and 2014 he was able to once again return back to the skill he once had.
This allowed for him to enter the tournament where he once claimed victory again. Early on into this year’s tournament he showcased just how much of his skill he had once again re-captured. There is no word if he will return for another year as three victories is now a standing record for the U.S. Amateur Pool Championship.
